If i have like 100 customers is there any advantage if the connections were given from multiple ports over if given from a single port?

With regard to your question, it is obvious that multi-port access has the following advantages over single-port access:


1. A single port has a fixed maximum bandwidth. If a large number of users are connected to a port, the line bandwidth will be contended for. As a result, the network is unstable and slow. Multi-port access ensures stable line bandwidth.


2. A single-port network has high risks. If a port is faulty, the services of all connected users will be interrupted. Multi-port access improves network reliability.

Let me add. Typical one PON port is for 32 or 64 customers. System can work with max 128 splitting.
For business customers, you can user downstream protection - type B single/dual homing protection or type C single/dual homing protection. You can use upstream protection, too.
