I have question regarding disk domain running status. If task balancing runs on disk domain can I replace faulty drive without any problem?

Thank you

Hello,

If task balancing runs on disk domain you can replace faulty drive without any problem

Different from HDDs, SSDs can only withstand a limited number of read and write operations. Therefore, an all-flash storage system requires load balancing between disks to prevent overly-used disks from failing. FlashLinkTM uses controller software and disk drivers to regularly query the disk wearing level from the SSD controller.

However, if SSDs are approaching the end of their life, for example, the wearing level exceeds 80%, multiple SSDs may fail simultaneously and data may be lost if global wear leveling is still used. In this case, the system enables anti-global wear leveling to avoid simultaneous failures. The system selects the most severely worn SSD and writes data onto it as long as it has idle space. This reduces that SSD's life faster than others, and you are prompted to replace it sooner, avoiding simultaneous failures.

Thanks
