Directory error when configuration file loaded from eSight Highlighted

This post describes how to deal with directory error when configuration files loaded from eSight.


Issue Description

  1. The customer has AD Microsoft as LDAP sync with uPortal.

  2. When new IP phone sets installed from eSight all configuration are fine exclude corporate directory services where end users can not search on the contacts at LDAP and administrators have to go physically and configured this manually at each individual IP phone set 

  3. Just to make it more clear : 

    After file loaded from eSight on the new IP phones, everything are working fine excluding corporate directory service, where admin has to request the IP address of the new IP phone and open the management portal of the IP phone individually and then scroll down the page till they see the save button at the end, the minute they press it, the corporate directory services start working

Version: eSight V300R010C00SPC300


Handling Process

  • We checked the issue remotely and the configuration was ok.

  • We collected the debug log IP phone configuration file on the eSight web page.

  • Analyzing process : 

  1. We found the error on the logs.

  2. Current directory server is uPortal. But we found the directory type is RCS in the logs.

  3. Checked the eSightUI.xml,we cannot find uPortal.

  4. The IP phone config file is esightUC.xml. It should use esightUI- EC60.xml.

Solution

If the current topology is EC6.x or EC19.x, and the below eSight screenshot does not have the uportal feature. Please change the IP phone configuration template from esightUC.xml to esightUI-EC60.xml on the esight web page.
