There are 3 modes of stacking in HUAWEI switching.
Stack card stacking
Service port stacking using dedicated stack cables
Service port stacking using ordinary cables
Stack Mode | Capital Investment | Networking Difficulty | Applicable Models |
---|---|---|---|
Stack card stacking | Stack cards and stack cables need to be purchased separately. | No configuration is required. After stack cards are installed and stack cables are connected, a stack is set up automatically. | Only the S5700EI, S5700SI, S5710-C-LI, S5720EI, S5730SI, and S5730S-EI support this stack mode. |
Service port stacking using dedicated stack cables | Service ports on switches can be used to set up a stack. No stack card needs to be purchased, but dedicated stack cables need to be purchased separately. | No configuration is required. A stack can be set up automatically after dedicated stack cables are connected according to stack connection requirements. | All models of V200R011C10 and later versions except the S5720EI support this stack mode. |
Service port stacking using ordinary cables | Service ports on switches can be used to set up a stack. Both stack cards and dedicated stack cables do not need to be purchased separately. | You need to manually configure service ports as stack ports and connect these ports with stack cables to set up a stack. | All models except the S5700EI, S5700SI, and S5710-C-LI support this stack mode. |
