Today I learn about two features on telephone networks, that is, Call forwarding and Call transfer.
I'd like to share with you, though it may not be comprehensive enough.
You are welcome to add more information, we make progress together.
Firstly, let us learn about Call forwarding and Call transfer.
Call forwarding
When the called user cannot answer the call, the call is forwarded to another specified number.

Call transfer
A user can transfer an ongoing call to a third party by pressing the transfer button or dialing the third party's number.

Comparison
Call forwarding: A call is forwarded to a third party before it is answered. Call forwarding includes call forwarding unconditional, call forwarding busy, and call forwarding no reply. The user can set the forwarded-to number on the terminal or service portal.
Call transfer: After the call is connected, the call is transferred to a third party. Call transfer is classified into unannounced transfer and announced transfer.
Example for Call transfer:
Mr. Zhang is the director of the company, and Miss Li is Mr. Zhang's secretary. One day, Miss Li receives a call from a customer( Mr. Wang) and asks for a call from Mr. Zhang.
If Miss Li directly transfers the call to Mr. Zhang, the phone of Mr. Zhang rings. Mr. Zhang picks up the phone and talks with Mr. Wang. This is unannounced transfer.
If Miss Li calls Mr. Zhang, ask Mr. Zhang whether he is willing to answer the call. After obtaining the consent, Miss Li transfers the call. Mr. Zhang starts to talk with Mr. Wang. This is announced transfer.
