Hi everyone
I value experience the most so I am asking you to share your experience.
I'm thinking about getting rid of L2 for switch interconnects in my network.
We are using 5720EI-Switches here and it is a small scale network (7 Switches). Right now we are using VLANs spanning all over and I don't like it very much. L2 is hard to control and in my opinion not designed to "span" that wide/large.
Goal: Switches are interconnected by L3 with routed interfaces BUT I need to span 1 or 2 VLANs to about 3-4 ports on every Switch and it should be tunneled over L3.
So here is my question:
Which type of L2 tunneling would be best here? GRE? VLL? PWE3? What would you recommend?
I don't mind learning and I am willing to invest time if necessary but I want to get the right direction before I move.
