DCP Boards Report The MUT_LOS Alarms And TDG Board Reports The OPU1_PLM Alarm

Symptom

Certain OptiX OSN 6800 stations form a ring network. The IDs of the stations are #5010, #5011, #5012, #5013, #5014, #5015, #5004, and #5003. Station #5014 is an OLA station configured with OWSP protection. Wavelengths are added and dropped at the adjacent stations of station #5014. After the main optical path from station #5013 to station #5014 is broken, a GE service from station #5010 to station #5004 is interrupted. In this case, the NE software version 5.51.03.25 is used at all stations in the network.

In addition, certain DCP boards report the MUT_LOS alarms and the TDG board at station #5010 reports the OPU1_PLM alarm.

Cause analysis

After an analysis, it is concluded that the possible causes of the problem are as follows:

l  OWSP protection is incorrectly configured.

l  The DCP boards are faulty.

l  Fibers on the DCP boards are incorrectly connected.

l  The switching protocol functions incorrectly.

Procedure

1.         After the main optical path is broken, query the value of Switching Status of the link between station #5015 and station #5013. The value is Idle. SF alarms are reported on the working and protection channels in the east direction at station #5015, on the working and protection channels in the west direction at station #5013, and on the protection channel in the east direction at station #5013. It is preliminarily doubted that the link between station #5013 and station #5015 is faulty.

2.         ***yze the alarms at stations #5013 and #5015. It is found that the 106-DCP-1(RI11/TO11), 106-DCP-2(RI12/TO12), and 106-DCP-4(RI22/TO22) optical interfaces at station #5015 report the MUT_LOS alarms. However, after the main optical path between station #5013 and station #5014 is broken, the 106-DCP-2(RI12/TO12) optical interface should not report the alarm; instead, the 105-DCP-2(RI12/TO12) should report the MUT_LOS alarm, which actually does not.

3.         It is doubted that the fiber jumpers at the RI12 optical interfaces on the 105-DCP and 106-DCP boards at station #5013 are incorrectly connected. Check the connections at the field. It is confirmed that two fiber jumpers are incorrectly connected.

4.         After fiber re-connection, test OWSP protection on the main optical path between station #5013 and station #5014. The value of Switching Status of the link between station #5015 and station #5013 is Switching. At this time, services are normal.

Result

The problem is resolved.
