Today, I’d like to share a case.
Problem description
Customer reported that monitoring instances for some NEs don’t collect any data, real-time performance also can’t be displayed.
Problem analyes
possible reasons:
1. License resource for monitoring instances is exhausted
2. No “statistic enable” is configured on interfaces
3. Wrong SNMP configuration on NE
License resource were checked and it was found that it’s Handling procedure:
1. enough of resources. Can’t be root cause
2. Configuration was checked, statistic is enabled on interface by default
3. SNMP configuration of NE is correct, traps are enabled, trap source correct interface is configured. Also, configurations were compared between NEs with problem and NEs, whose data is displayed correctly. No difference in SNMP configuration was found
4. SNMP configuration on U2000 was checked in following path – Administration -> NE communication parameters -> NE Access Protocol Parameters. It was found that problem NEs use SNMPv1 to communicate with U2000, normal devices use SNMPv2 version.
Root cause
U2000 and NE communicates via SNMP of old version, so performance data can't be displayed correctly
Solution
Change SNMP protocol version via which NE communicates with U2000. NE should use version V2c. To change version, go to menu Administration -> NE communication parameters -> NE Access Protocol Parameters, in tab SNMPv1 select NE and press “Reset” button. Then modify version and save.

We’ll study together.
