Criteria of Selecting an OTU Board From Different Available Boards

  HiCoins as reward: 0 (problem unresolved)

Hello Colleagues,

For OSN 9800 M Series, we have various OTU boards available.

Some even offer the same transmission rate on the line side.

But what are the criteria to select a specific OTU board from a vast range of OTU boards available, although they offer the same line rate?

An example is attached for reference....

Thanks

Dear friend!
When selecting OTU boards, consider whether their specifications match the application scenario.

The differences between the TNG1M520SM and G1M502DM are as follows:

1. Different basic functions

The M502DM board on the client side receives three types of signals, which are OTU4, 100GE and 4 x 10GE. The M502DM converts signals as follows:

Transponder mode:

2 x OTU4 <-> 2 x ODU4 <-> 2 x OTU4

2 x 100GE <-> 2 x ODU4 (Bit transparent mapping/MAC transparent mapping) <-> 2 x ODU4 <-> 2 x OTU4

Muxponder mode:

2 x 4 x 10GE <-> 8 x ODU2 (Bit Transparent Mapping(11.1G IMP+BMP)/MAC transparent mapping(10.7G)) <-> ODU4 <-> OTU4

2 x 4 x 10GE <-> 8 x ODU2 (Bit Transparent Mapping(11.1G IMP+BMP)/MAC transparent mapping(10.7G)) <-> 2 x ODU4 <-> OTUC2

2 x 100GE <-> 2 x ODU4 (Bit transparent mapping/MAC transparent mapping) <-> 2 x ODU4 <-> OTUC2

2 x OTU4 <-> 2 x ODU4 <-> OTUC2

The M520SM multiplexes 2 x 100GE or 20 x 10GE Services into 1 x 200G/100G signal.

The M520SM supports setting TX1/RX1 port to line mode and outputting one OTU4 gray light signal.

2. They occupy different device slots.

A TNG1M520SM board occupies only one slot (requiring one 5.5-U slot).

A TNG1M502DM board occupies two slots (requiring two 5.5-U slot).

If both types of boards meet your requirements, choose the lower-priced board to save your construction costs.

If the price is the same, you can choose the G1M502DM because it is more powerful and supports a maximum rate of 200 Gbit/s.

The selection of boards is based on the following:

1. Price.

2. Board performance (Whether the supported protection, rate, access service type, and specification parameters match those of other boards).

3. Consumed slot resources. The slot of the subrack is also a resource. If the boards that consume one slot are used, more boards are installed in the subrack and the functions are more powerful.

4. Whether it is suitable for future development needs of users, etc.

Thank you!
