- IGMP snooping and MLD snooping
Note: AR150&AR200 series routers and AR1200 series routers do not support IGMP snooping or MLD snooping.

In V200R005C00 and later versions, Huawei AR series routers support the following multicast protocols:
MSDP
- PIM-SM
- PIM-SM (IPv6)
- PIM-DM
- PIM-DM (IPv6)
- IGMP
- MLD
- IGMP snooping and MLD snooping
Note: AR150&AR200 series routers and AR1200 series routers do not support IGMP snooping or MLD snooping.

AR series routers support Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP), and Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP).

Which encapsulation protocols do AR series routers support
AR series routers support AAL5 logical link control (LLC)/sub-network attachment point (SNAP), and Virtual Circuit Multiplexing (VC-MUX).

Which multicast protocols do S series switches support
S series switches support the following multicast protocols: - IGMP: is used to set up multicast members and maintain multicast memberships on IPv4 networks. This protocol is supported by S series modular switches, S3700EI, S3700HI, S5720S-SI, S5720SI, S5700EI, S5710EI, S5720EI, S5700HI, S5710HI, S5720HI, S6700EI, S6720EI and S6720S-EI. - MLD: is used to set up multicast members and maintain multicast memberships on IPv6 networks. This protocol is supported by S series modular switches and by S series fixed switches in V200R002 and later versions, including the S5720S-SI, S5720SI, S5700EI, S5710EI, S5720EI, S5700HI, S5710HI, S5720HI, S6700EI, S6720EI and S6720S-EI. - PIM (IPv4): IPv4 multicast routing protocol, which includes the DM and SM modes. This protocol is supported by S series modular switches, S3700EI (supporting only the SM mode), S3700HI, S5720S-SI, S5720SI, S5700EI, S5710EI, S5720EI, S5700HI, S5710HI, S5720HI, S6700EI, S6720EI and S6720S-EI. - PIM (IPv6): IPv6 multicast routing protocol, which includes the DM and SM modes. This protocol is supported by S series modular switches and by S series fixed switches in V200R002 and later versions, including the S5720S-SI, S5720SI, S5700EI, S5710EI, S5720EI, S5700HI, S5710HI, S5720HI, S6700EI, S6720EI and S6720S-EII. - MSDP: is used to establish cross-domain multicast data forwarding paths. This protocol is supported by S series modular switches, S3700HI, S5720S-SI, S5720SI, S5700EI, S5710EI, S5720EI, S5700HI, S5710HI, S5720HI, S6700EI, S6720EI and S6720S-EI. - Multicast VPN (MVPN): is used to forward multicast data on a private network to the public network. This protocol is supported by S series modular switches and by S series fixed switches S5720EI (from V200R010C00), S5700HI (from V200R005C01), S5710HI (from V200R005C02), S5720HI (from V200R010C00), S6720EI (from V200R010C00), S6720S-EI (from V200R010C00). - IGMP snooping: implements accurate multicast data forwarding on a Layer 2 network (A Layer 3 network is an IPv4 network). This protocol is supported by all S series switches. - MLD snooping: implements accurate multicast data forwarding on a Layer 2 network (A Layer 3 network is an IPv4 network). This protocol is supported by S series switches except the S1700.
