Differences between FusionAccess licenses and concurrent licenses

5

FusionAccess licenses are assigned based on the maximum number of available user accounts while concurrent licenses are assigned based on the maximum number of users who can connect to a terminal concurrently. The two types of licenses have different dimensions and application scenarios. Generally, FusionAccess licenses apply to scenarios where a user has one or several virtual desktops that are frequently used, such as OA office. Concurrent licenses apply to scenarios where a user has one virtual desktop or several users share one VM or VM resource pool that is infrequently used, such as meeting terminals, call centers, and multimedia classrooms.

FusionCloud desktop solution V100R005C10 and later support concurrent mode. You can purchase virtual desktop licenses based on the maximum number of concurrent desktop users or concurrent terminals.

Whether licenses of different FusionAccess versions can be interchangeably used
For Huawei products, licenses of the same R version can be interchangeably used. That is, licenses of R5C10 can be directly imported into the R5C20 environment. As restricted by the FusionAccess R5C20 platform, only one license file can be imported. For example, the licenses of 40 users in phase 1 and those of 400 users in phase 2 need to be combined into one license file. The combination process is as follows: 1. Change the ESN of the licenses of 40 users on the ESDP platform to that of the new R5C20 environment. 2. Use the contract number of phase 2 to activate the FusionAccess licenses of 400 users and use the ESN of the newly established R5C20 environment. 3. Combine licenses with the same ESN on the ESDP platform and download the license file of 440 users.

Whether FusionAccess licenses contain Huawei FusionSphere licenses
FusionAccess licenses contain Huawei FusionSphere licenses. The R5 FusionAccess software gifts the same number of FusionSphere (or FusionCube) licenses. The gifted virtualization licenses can be used only in FusionAccess scenarios. Extra licenses cannot be used in other scenarios such as server virtualization. If a project involves both FusionAccess and virtualization scenarios, you are advised to configure FusionSphere licenses in the BOQ.

Counting method for FusionAccess licenses
FusionAccess licenses are assigned based on the number of user accounts. The License server counts the number of user accounts that have ever logged in to the VMs. If this number is smaller than that of user licenses, there are available licenses that can be assigned to new users. Otherwise, new users cannot log in to the VMs.
