To upload a license file to an AC, use any of the following methods:



Method 1: Upload a license file using a PC as the TFTP server. Run TFTP server software on the PC and set parameters.

Note: This method requires you to purchase TFTP server software separately.

Procedure:

1. Configure a TFTP server. Click Browse and specify the directory for storing the new system software. The TFTP server address in Server interface is automatically set by the system.

2. Run the tftp [ -a source-ip-address | -i interface-type interface-number ] tftp-server { get | put } source-filename [ destination-filename ] command to upload a license file to the AC.



Method 2: Upload a license file using an FTP server. In this case, the AC serves as the FTP client.

Note: This method requires you to purchase FTP server software separately.

Procedure:

1. Configure the FTP server, set its user name and password, and set the FTP folder.

2. Run the ftp [ -a source-ip-address | -i interface-type interface-number ] host-ip [ port-number ] command to log in to the FTP server. Enter the user name and password of the FTP server as prompted.

3. Run the get remote-filename [ local-filename ] command to download a license file to the AC.



Method 3: An AC serves as an FTP server, and a license file is uploaded from an FTP client to the AC.

Procedure:

1. Run the system-view command to enter the system view.

2. Run the ftp [ ipv6 ] server enable command to start the FTP server.

3. Run the aaa command to enter the AAA view.

4. Run the local-user user-name password cipher password command to configure the local user name and password.

5. Run the local-user user-name privilege level level command to configure the level for a local user.

Note: The user level must be set to 3 or higher; otherwise, the FTP connection cannot be established.

6. Run the local-user user-name service-type ftp command to configure the FTP service type.

7. Run the local-user user-name ftp-directory directory command to configure the authorized directory for FTP users.

8. Enter the CLI on the PC. Run the ftp server-ip-address command, and enter the user name and password to log in to the AC.

9. Run the put license-filename command to upload a license file to the AC. After the upload is complete, the license file is saved to the default directory of the AC.

An AC's license controls the maximum number of online APs allowed on the AC. After you purchase a commercial license, obtain the license file from the service provider with the entitlement ID (LAC) or activation password.
