Automatic AP upgrade

9

In automatic upgrade mode, an AP checks whether its version is the same as that configured on the AC, SFTP, or FTP server during login. If the two versions are different, the AP upgrades its version, restarts, and goes online again.

To reduce service interruption caused by an AP upgrade, the FTP or SFTP mode is recommended.

Automatic AP upgrade during login:

[HUAWEI] wlan

[HUAWEI-wlan-view] ap-update mode ftp-mode

[HUAWEI-wlan-view] ap-update ftp-server 192.168.1.100 ftp-username admin ftp-password cipher wlanadmin

[HUAWEI-wlan-view] ap-update ftp-server max-connect-num 5 //The default value is 50.

[HUAWEI-wlan-view] ap-update update-filename new.bin ap-type 10 //Specify an upgrade file for the AP with type 10. You can specify upgrade files for multiple APs, and can also add APs to regions.

Can I upgrade a specified AP
For V200R005 and earlier versions, you can only batch upgrade APs of the specified type or APs of the specified type in the same AP region. During AP login, if the software versions on the AP and AC are different, the AP is upgraded automatically.

Online upgrade mode of the AP supported by the AC
FTP online upgrade mode is supported.

How does an AP adjust the rate
When signal quality becomes bad, an AP changes the modulation mode to reduce the transmission rate. This also reduces the bit error ratio.

Which upgrade modes does an AP support
Currently, an AP can be upgraded using the AC, FTP, or SFTP. - AC loading: The target version file of the AP is saved on the AC. During loading, the AC sends the target version file to the AP using CAPWAP. - FTP loading: The target version file of the AP is saved on the FTP server. During loading, the AP logs in to the FTP server and obtains the target version file. - SFTP loading: The target version file of the AP is saved on the SFTP server. During loading, the AP logs in to the SFTP server and obtains the target version file. For information about how to configure AP upgrade modes, see "How do I configure an AP's upgrade mode."
