The Laser Control parameter is applicable to the IPA function in a Raman system and high-power EDFA optical amplifier boards. It needs to be set for each IPA pair. The Laser Restart Mode parameter is set as required. When Laser Restart Mode is set to Manual and Laser Control is set to Enabled, the output optical power of the laser control board in an IPA pair is limited to a value lower than 10 dB during an IPA restart. When Laser Restart Mode is set to Manual and Laser Control is set to Disabled, the laser control board has the same optical power as it would have when no IPA is configured. When Laser Restart Mode is set to Automatic, Laser Control must be set to Enabled. In this manner, the laser control board will enable the laser to test whether the link is restored during each test period. When the Laser Restart Mode parameter is set to Disabled, the laser control board has the same optical power as it would have when no IPA is configured. As a result, the laser from the exposed fiber may cause personal injuries (especially to eyes).
