Difference between the Continue Mode and Burst Mode for the Send Flag parameter of Ethernet test frames

8

Burst Mode: indicates a burst test. A specific number of test frames are sent at an interval of about 1s. The number of sent test frames can be set in the Frames to Send field.
Continue Mode: indicates that test frames are continuously sent, and one frame is sent every about one second.

Difference between the traffic-policy and traffic policy commands
For the traffic policy command, the system view is used to create a traffic policy or enter the view of an existing traffic policy. The traffic-policy command is used to apply a created traffic policy to the interface view or system view.

Meanings of the values (Monitored and Not Monitored) of the Wavelength Monitor Status parameter for the MAC board
Optical power can be scanned by the MAC board no matter whether Wavelength Monitor Status is set to Monitored or Not Monitored. The parameter setting affects alarms only. For example, if Wavelength Monitor Status is set to Monitored for wavelength 1 but wavelength 1 is not scanned, a CHAN_LOS will be reported. If Wavelength Monitor Status is set to Not Monitored for wavelength 1, no alarm will be reported when wavelength 1 is not scanned.

Relationship between Security Control Switch and Restart Mode of the IPA feature
Security Control Switch applies to Raman IPA and high-power EDFA optical amplifiers. Security Control Switch must be configured in each IPA working group. However, Restart Mode can be configured as required. If Restart Mode is set to Manual and Security Control Switch is set to Enabled, the output optical power of the control board in the IPA protection group is lower than 10 dB during IPA restart. If Restart Mode is set to Manual and Security Control Switch is set to Disabled, the output optical power of the control board is the same as that when no IPA protection group is configured. However, if Restart Mode is set to Auto, Security Control Switch must be set to Enabled. In this case, the control board turns on the laser to test whether the link recovers in each test period. If Security Control Switch is set to Disabled, the output optical power of the control board is the same as that when no IPA protection group is configured. As a result, the laser omitted from the broken fiber may cause personal injury, particularly to the eyes.

Reason why Optical Interface Attenuation Ratio of a wavelength is set to Blocking on the NMS
The Optical Interface Attenuation Ratio parameter is used to manage the added 40 or 80 wavelengths. You need to first create optical cross-connections for wavelengths on the NMS for the WSM9 board. After the optical cross-connections are created, the default value of this parameter is Blocking for each wavelength. A wavelength whose Optical Interface Attenuation Ratio is Blocking cannot traverse the WSM9 board because the wavelength attenuation is the maximum. To enable the wavelength to traverse the WSM9 board, set the parameter to another value.

Setting the Raman board alarm reporting parameter to Enabled
The CRPC01 board supports fiber cut detection. That is, when the CRPC01 board detects an IPA trigger condition, the IPA function will shut down the transmitting laser on the CRPC01 board. This, however, can be achieved only when the following conditions are satisfied: 1. The CRPC01 board is configured as the Raman Amplifier. 2. At least one of the 192.4 THz to 192.1 THz wavelengths is configured in the system. In a system with 50 GHz channel spacing, at least one of the following wavelengths is configured in the system: 192.4 THz, 192.35 THz, 192.3 THz, 192.25 THz, 192.2 THz, 192.15 THz, and 192.1 THz. In a system with 100 GHz channel spacing, at least one of the following wavelengths is configured in the system: 192.4 THz, 192.3 THz, 192.2 THz, and 192.1 THz. 3. Raman Board Alarm Reporting is set to Enabled. 4. Raman Board Threshold (dBm) is set correctly. Note: If wavelengths 192.4THz-192.1THz are not configured in the system, Raman Board Alarm Reporting must be set to Disabled.
