1. Service capacity limit:
OptiX OSN 6800 has the TN1K1AFB, TN1K2AFB, and TN1K3AFB backplanes, and the TN11XCS and TN12XCS cross-connect boards. Different combinations have different limits on the service capacity and cross-connect configuration of the 40G board.
Description of the backplane subrack and cross-connect bus of the cross-connect board:
(1). All slots of TN1K1AFB backplanes have only eight pairs of cross-connect buses with a cross-connect capability of 20G (8 x ODU1) and do not support single-slot 40G boards (such as the TQX or NQ2 board that can use only channels 1 and 2). However, dual-slot 40G boards (such as the NS3 board) are supported.
(2). Due to the cross-connect capacity limit, all slots of the TN11XCS board have only eight pairs of cross-connect buses with a cross-connect capability of 20G (8 x ODU1) and do not support single-slot 40G boards (such as the TQX or NQ2 board that can use only channels 1 and 2). However, dual-slot 40G boards (such as the NS3 board) are supported.
(3). The combination of the TN12XCS and TN1K2AFB boards supports four slots, each of which has a 40G cross-connect capability. That is, slots 1, 4, 11, and 14 have 16 pairs of active/standby centralized cross-connect buses with a cross-connect capability of 40G (16 x ODU1) and support single-slot 40G boards (such as the TQX and NQ2 board). The other slots have eight pairs of active/standby centralized cross-connect buses with a cross-connect capability of 20G (8 x ODU1) and do not support single-slot 40G boards (such as the TQX or NQ2 board that can use only channels 1 and 2). All slots support dual-slot 40G boards (such as the NS3 board).
(4). The functions of the TN1K3AFB board are consistent with those of the TN1K2AFB board.
Board service capacity and cross-connect configuration:
(1). In scenarios where both TN12XCS and TN1K2AFB (TN1K3AFB) boards are used, the NQ2 and TQX single-slot 40G boards can be inserted into slots 1 to 4, and support 40G service capacity and cross-connect configurations for ports 1 to 4. If the boards are inserted into other slots, they support only 20G service capacity and cross-connection configurations for ports 1 and 2. If cross-connections are configured for ports 3 and 4, an error will be reported.
(2). In scenarios where TN12XCS and TN1K2AFB (TN1K3AFB) boards are not used together, if the NQ2 and TQX single-slot 40G boards are inserted into other slots, they support only 20G service capacity and cross-connect configurations for ports 1 and 2. If cross-connections are configured for ports 3 and 4, an error will be reported.

If the TN11XCS board is used, only optical ports RX1/TX1 and RX2/TX2 of the TQX board are available and therefore the board supports a service capacity of only 20 Gbit/s regardless of the slot housing the board.

Cross-connect capacity of each slot in an OptiX OSN 6800 subrack
If the TN12XCS board is used, each of the IU1, IU4, IU11, and IU14 slots supports a maximum cross-connect capacity of 40 Gbit/s. Each of the other service slots supports a maximum cross-connect capacity of 20 Gbit/s. If the TN11XCS board is used, each of all service slots supports a maximum cross-connect capacity of 20 Gbit/s. When IU17 is used as a service slot, no service grooming is supported.

Slots that can house the NQ2 board in an OSN 6800 subrack
On the OSN 6800, all service slots can house the NQ2 board. The NQ2 board can occupy 40G bandwidth in slot 1, 4, 11, or 14 (the slots are 40G slots), and can occupy only 20G bandwidth in any other service slots.

Slots for holding TDX boards in an OptiX OSN 6800 subrack
In an OptiX OSN 6800 subrack, a TDX board can be installed in any slots of IU1 to IU17.
