Two modes are available for the VSs on CE12800 switches:
- Port mode: Any port on an interface card can be flexibly allocated to any VS.

- Port group mode: All ports on the same forwarding chip of an interface card must be allocated to the same VS. When VSs in port group mode are allocated, you need to know the mappings between the ports and forwarding chips to reasonably plan the use of the ports. You can run the display device port-map [ slot slot-id ] command on a CE12800 to check the mappings between the ports and forwarding chips.

You can run the display device port-map [ slot slot-id ] command in the user or system view to check ports on an LPU that belong to the same forwarding chip.

For example, if 24 ports on a CE-L24XS-EA belong to the same forwarding chip, all these ports will be assigned to VSs in group mode.

How to check member interfaces in a port group
You can run the display port-group [ all | port-group-name ] command to check member interfaces in a permanent port group. The port group function allows you to configure interfaces in a batch. However, the device does not support query or saving of the port group configuration.
