The local detection multiplier determines the detection time of a BFD session. Detection time = Received Detect Multi of the remote system x Max (Local DMTI/Received RMRI). Detect Multi: local detection multiplier, which is set using the detect-multiplier command; Required Min Rx Interval (RMRI): minimum interval for receiving BFD packets, which is set using the min-rx-interval command; Desired Min Tx Interval (DMTI): minimum interval for sending BFD packets, which is set using the min-tx-interval command.

The default BFD convergence time is 3s. The minimum BFD convergence time supported by the CE12800 switch is 150 ms, and that supported by the CE7800, CE6800, and CE5800 is 300 ms.
