Description of the command used to configure DHCP relay on S series switches

19

S series switches excluding the S1700 support the DHCP relay function. The command is described as follows:
1. The dhcp select relay command enables the DHCP relay function on an interface.
2. The dhcp relay server-ip ip-address command specifies the IP address of the DHCP server on the DHCP relay agent.
3. The dhcp server group group-name command creates a DHCP server group and displays the DHCP server group view.
4. The dhcp-server ip-address [ ip-address-index ] command configures a DHCP server in the DHCP server group.
5. The dhcp relay server-select group-name command binds a DHCP server group to an interface.

Method to configure the DHCP relay on S series switches
For S series switches excluding the S1700, when the DHCP client and the DHCP server are located on different network segments, configure a DHCP relay agent to assist the DHCP server in allocating IP addresses to DHCP clients. There is no difference of the DHCP relay configuration between all versions and models of Huawei S series switches.

DHCP relay configuration notes on S series switch
Note the following points when configuring DHCP relay on S series switches: - Configure a DHCP server group, then configure the DHCP server address in the view of the DHCP server group. - Enter the VLAN virtual interface view, configure an IP address for the VLAN virtual interface, configure the VLAN virtual interface as the DHCP relay agent, and specify the DHCP server group. - VLAN virtual interface 1 does not support the DHCP relay function; therefore, the DHCP relay configuration commands are unavailable in the view of VLAN virtual interface 1, but are available in the view of other VLAN virtual interfaces.

DHCPv6 Relay configuration on S series switch
S series switches (except S1700 switches) support the DHCPv6 relay function, which can be configured using either of the following methods: - Configure an IPv6 address for the DHCPv6 server or the next-hop relay agent on an interface. [HUAWEI] dhcp enable [HUAWEI] ipv6 [HUAWEI] interface vlanif 100 [HUAWEI-Vlanif100] ipv6 enable [HUAWEI-Vlanif100] dhcpv6 relay destination fc00:1::1 //Enable DHCPv6 relay and configure an IPv6 address for the DHCPv6 server or the next-hop relay agent. - Bind a DHCPv6 server group on an interface. [HUAWEI] dhcp enable [HUAWEI] ipv6 [HUAWEI] dhcpv6 server group DHCPv6-srv1 //Create a DHCPv6 server group. [HUAWEI-dhcpv6-server-group-DHCPv6-srv1] dhcpv6-server fc00:1::1 //Add a DHCPv6 server with IPv6 address fc00:1::1 [HUAWEI-dhcpv6-server-group-DHCPv6-srv1] quit [HUAWEI] interface vlanif 100 [HUAWEI-Vlanif100] ipv6 enable [HUAWEI-Vlanif100] dhcpv6 relay server-select DHCPv6-srv1 //Bind the DHCPv6 server group on the interface.
