Different AR models of the same series (such as AR1220V and AR1220W) obtain license files using activation codes and ESNs, there is no need to consider the mapping activation codes and ESNs.
When AR routers of different series (such as AR1220, AR2240, and AR2240C) obtain license files using activation codes and ESNs. The activation codes are applicable to the series only.

Note:
Note uppercase and lowercase letters of ESNs when applying for a license. If the ESN in the license file is different from that on the AR router, the license may fail to be activated.

Does the mapping between license activation codes and AR models need to be considered
For licenses of V2R1, there is no need to consider the mapping between license activation codes and AR models. For licenses of V2R2 and later versions: - For capacity licenses including AR CT license and AR IVR license, there is no need to consider the mapping between license activation codes and AR models. - For feature licenses including AR150&160&200 value-added service package for data services and AR1200 value-added service package for security services, the mapping between license activation codes and AR models needs to be considered.

Whether the license upgrade activation code is changed on USG firewalls
The license upgrade activation code is not changed. However, one activation code can be used once only. Generally, the activation code is used when you activate the license file for the first time. If the license version and firewall version are inconsistent after you upgrade the firewall version, you can upgrade the license. You can seek help from the license management center, by sending the device ESN, LAC, contract No. and symptom description to license@huawei.com.
