USG2000 initial settings and subnet mask allocation

67

The subnet mask of the USG2000 specifies the bits, in the IP address, used for the network or subnet ID as well as for the host ID. The AND operation is performed for the corresponding bits of the 32-bit IP address and the subnet mask, to determine the network ID corresponding to the IP address. Assume that the IP address is 10.1.1.2 and the subnet mask is 255.255.0.0. The result of the AND operation performed for the corresponding bits of the IP address and the subnet mask, that is, 10.1.0.0, is the network address.

How to change an interface IP address on an S series switches
You can delete or change an interface IP address on an S series switches (except the S1700) as follows: - To delete the IP address of an interface, run the undo ip address [ ip-address { mask | mask-length } ] command in the interface view. For example: [HUAWEI] interface Vlanif 100 [HUAWEI-Vlanif100] display this # interface Vlanif100 ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0 # [HUAWEI-Vlanif100] undo ip address [HUAWEI-Vlanif100] display this # interface Vlanif100 # - To change the IP address or subnet mask of an interface, run the ip address ip-address { mask | mask-length } command in the interface view. For example: [HUAWEI] interface Vlanif 100 [HUAWEI-Vlanif100] display this # interface Vlanif100 ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0 # [HUAWEI-Vlanif100] ip address 10.2.1.1 255.255.0.0 [HUAWEI-Vlanif100] display this # interface Vlanif100 ip address 10.2.1.1 255.255.0.0 #

whether it can communication which S series switches as a gateway, downlink the host subnet mask than its subnet mask longer(larger)
S series switches (except S1700) as a gateway, the host of downlink subnet mask than its subnet mask loger(larger), the situation of communication between the host as follows: 1) HostS are located on the same network segment of the same VLAN, can communicate normally; 2) Hosts are located on the same network segment with different VLANs, it can be communication with each other by configure the ARP proxy inside VLAN . 3) Hosts belong to different network segments with the sanme VLAN, it can be communication between hosts by configure VLANIF 4) Hosts belong to different network segments and different VLANs, it can be communication between hosts by configure VLAN aggregation

Setting the intranets on both ends of the IPSec tunnel to be on the same subnet on the USG2000
You are advised not to set the intranets of the two ends of the IPSec tunnel to be on the same network segment.
