The GE optical module on the MA5616 is two-fiber bidirectional or one-fiber bidirectional. The 2 types are available in 3 and 2 models respectively, and the parameters of these models are as follows:

A high-speed optical port supports low-speed SFP, eSFP, and SPF+ modules. Generally, optical ports on a modular switch support low-speed optical modules. However, on a fixed switch, downlink optical ports support low-speed optical modules, but uplink optical ports do not. The S12700's GE optical LPU supports both 100M optical modules and 1000M optical modules. When a 100M optical module is used, you must run the speed 100 command on the interface to set the interface rate to 100 Mbit/s. When using a GE optical module, an interface works at 1000 Mbit/s by default. If auto-negotiation is enabled on the interface, the interface speed cannot be set to 100 Mbit/s. If auto-negotiation is disabled, you can run the speed 100 command to set the interface speed to 100 Mbit/s. When two optical interfaces are interconnected, they must use the same type of optical module.

Can GE optical modules and GE electrical modules be installed on the same interface board of the S12700
GE optical modules and GE electrical modules can be installed on the same 1000M optical interface board of the S12700, but you must configure the O/E converter on the 1000M optical interface board. The 1000M optical interface board of the S12700 can use only the Huawei certified converter. When Non-Huawei O/E converters are installed on interfaces of the S12700, the interfaces still work as optical interfaces.

Can GE optical modules and GE electrical modules be installed on the same interface board of the S7700&S9700
GE optical modules and GE electrical modules can be installed on the same 1000M optical interface board of the S7700&S9700, but you must configure the O/E converter on the 1000M optical interface board. The 1000M optical interface board of the S7700&S9700 can use only the Huawei certified converter. When Non-Huawei O/E converters are installed on interfaces of the S7700&S9700, the interfaces still work as optical interfaces.
