Method used to expand LUN capacity of OceanStor T Series

1

You can expand LUN capacity of OceanStor T Series as follows:
Go to the Expand dialog box.
In the ISM navigation tree, choose All Devices > SN_XX > Storage Resources > Block Storage Pools. (SN_XX indicates the target storage storage.)
In the right function pane, select the RAID group you want to expand.
Click Expand.
The Expand dialog box is displayed.

Expand a RAID group.
In the Available Disks area, select the idle disks that you want to add to the RAID group.

Note:
To improve disk utilization, you are advised to select an idle disk of which the capacity is the same as that of a member disk in the RAID group.

Click the idle disk and add the disk to the Selected Disks group box.

Confirm the RAID group expansion. Click OK.
The Warning dialog box is displayed.

Read and confirm the information in the dialog box. Then select I have read the warning message carefully. Click OK.
The Information dialog box is displayed, indicating that the operation is successful.

Click OK to return to the Block Storage Pools page and complete RAID group expansion.

Method used to extend LUN capacity of OceanStor T Series
You can extend LUN capacity of OceanStor T Series as follows: 1. When the capacity of a LUN cannot meet service requirements, you can extend the LUN capacity by adding capacity from other LUNs. 2. After a LUN is extended, its capacity is the total capacity of the primary LUN and all secondary LUNs. LUN extending operation can be performed online without stopping services on the extending primary LUN. After a LUNs is deleted, the capacity of a newly created LUN is smaller than the total capacity of original LUNs because space is not continuous. You are advised to configure LUN extending for LUN expansion. 3. Go to the Creating LUN Extending Wizard dialog box. In the navigation tree, select Assistant. In the function pane, choose Basic Settings > Extend LUN. The Creating LUN Extending Wizard dialog box is displayed. Select the primary LUN of the extended LUN. In the Assistant dialog box, click Next. The Creating LUN Extending Wizard Step 3-1: Select Extending Primary LUN dialog box is displayed. Select an ordinary LUN as the primary LUN of the extended LUN. Select the secondary LUN of the extended LUN. In the Creating LUN Extending Wizard Step 3-1: Select Extending Primary LUN dialog box, click Next. The Creating LUN Extending Wizard Step 3-2: Select Extending Secondary LUN dialog box is displayed. Select one LUN or multiple LUNs as the secondary LUN of the extended LUN. Click Next. The Creating LUN Extending Wizard Step 3-3: Summary dialog box is displayed, displaying the primary and secondary LUNs after expansion. Click Finish to complete LUN expansion. The Information dialog box is displayed. Click OK. 4. For details about operating systems after LUN capacity expansion, go to .

Method used to expand host file system capacity of OceanStor T Series
You can expand host file systems of OceanStor T Series as follows: 1. Expand the capacity by using the volume management software delivered with the host (LVM and dynamic disk). 2. Expand the capacity by using the third-party volume management software (VxVM).

Method used to expand LUNs of OceanStor V3 storage systems

Methods used to expand the storage capacity of a VM
You can expand a VM's storage capacity as follows: 1. If the storage resources of the FusionCloud desktop system are insufficient, you can add new storage devices and migrate some VM disks to them. For details, refer to the product documentation. Alternatively, you can delete VMs that are not in use to release their storage space. 2. If a single VM's storage space is insufficient, you can add a new hard disk to it.

Method used to map LUNs in OceanStor T Series unified storage
You can map LUNs in OceanStor T Series unified storage as follows: 1. The storage system provides two mapping modes: array port mapping type and initiator mapping type. Select a proper mapping mode based on the service requirements and networking. For more details, go to the Setting a Mapping Mode page. 2. If the connection is an iSCSI connection, the mapping can be added through the initiator. For more details, go to the Initiator Mapping Mode (for Fibre Channel Connections and iSCSI connections) page. 3. If the connection is a Fibre Channel connection, the mapping can be added through the initiator or array port. For more details, go to the Initiator Mapping Mode (for Fibre Channel Connections and iSCSI connections) page or the Array port Mapping Mode (for Fibre Channle Connections) page.
