Networking of OceanStor T Series unified storage

The operating system of the OceanStor T Series unified storage is installed on controllers, not coffer disks. Coffer disks store configuration data of the storage system, events, logs, and data in the cache when a power supply unit (PSU) fails. Remaining capacity of coffer disks can be used to store service data.

Requirements on inserting coffer disks of OceanStor T Series unified storage to slots: For OceanStor T Series unified storage whose disks and controllers are integrated, slots 0 to 3 of controller enclosures must be inserted with coffer disks. For OceanStor T Series unified storage whose disks and controllers are separated, slots 0 to 3 of the first disk enclosure must be inserted with coffer disks. At least one disk must be seated in slot 0 or 1 and at least one disk in slot 2 or 3.

Method used to install coffer disks of OceanStor T Series unified storage: For OceanStor T Series unified storage whose disks and controllers are integrated, slots 0 to 3 of controller enclosures must be inserted with coffer disks. For OceanStor T Series unified storage whose disks and controllers are separated, slots 0 to 3 of the first disk enclosure must be inserted with coffer disks. At least one disk must be seated in slot 0 or 1 and at least one disk in slot 2 or 3. Insert disks delivered to the site to the slots as described above, and attach coffer disk labels to the disks.

Coffer disks of OceanStor T Series unified storage can be replaced with other types of disks or their position can be changed. The replacement of coffer disks has no impact on the operating system of storage systems. Export database data before replacing coffer disks; otherwise, the original configuration data, events, and logs will be lost. Ensure that coffer disks are of the same type. If coffer disks are in the same RAID group, disks in the RAID group must be of the same type.

Coffer disks of unified storage store the configuration data of the storage system, events, logs, and dirty data. Remaining capacity of coffer disks can be used to store storage service data.
