Whether one of the two power inputs can be disconnected for S5000/S2600 storage systems: Yes. The power supplies of S5000/S2600 storage system are in 1+1 redundant design. Either of the power supplies can provide sufficient power to the whole S5000/S2600 device under standard voltage and current. When only one power supply provides power to the storage system, to guarantee data storage security and ensure that cache data can be completely written to disks during a power failure, the cache write policy is automatically adjusted from write back to write through. Then data is directly written to disks but not to cache. When the write-through policy is adopted, the system performance will be deteriorated. When two power supplies provide power to the storage system, the cache write policy is adjusted from write-through to write-back.

The S2600 storage system can be configured under any circumstance.

For the S5000 storage system, if the only one power supply fails, the system cannot start up. Because when the power supply is faulty, the system cannot control the discharging of the battery through the power supply. As a result, the battery cannot work properly. From the perspective of security, the system does not allow the storage system to start. For the S2600 storage system, if the only one power supply fails, the system can still start up. Because the discharge of the BBU in the S2600 storage system is irrelevant to the power supply.

Whether disk intermixing is supported by S5000/S2600 storage systems: Yes. S2600 storage systems support the intermixing of SAS and SATA disks. However, the intermixing of coffer disks and disks in the same RAID group is not supported. The S5000 supports the intermixing of Fibre Channel disks, SATA disks, and SSDs within or across controller enclosures or disk enclosures. Note: It is recommended that Fibre Channel disks or SSDs be used for coffer disks for S5600 storage systems. If SATA disks are used as coffer disks for S5600 storage systems, data loss may occur in the case of unexpected power failures. The intermixing of the other 20 disks is supported. That is, Fibre Channel disks, SATA disks, or SSDs can be configured.
