Directions of the switch's port side and power supply side when it is installed in a cabinet

1

Determine directions of the switch's port side and power supply side when it is installed in a cabinet:
1. It is recommended that ports on the switch face the front of the cabinet and that the power supply interface face the rear of the cabinet. After the switch is installed, the panel on the port side needs to be leveled with the front panel of the cabinet.

2. If the switch's ports and power supply interface are on the same side, it is recommended that the switch's ports and power supply interface face the front of the cabinet. After the switch is installed, the panel on the ports and power supply interface side needs to be leveled with the front panel of the cabinet.

Installation method of S series switches
Generally, S series switches are installed by agents. For detailed installation methods of devices and modules, refer to Quick Start Guide or Hardware Installation and Maintenance Guide. SNMP configuration on S series switch
S series switches (except S1700 switches) support three SNMP versions: SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, and SNMPv3. SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c use community names for authentication, resulting in low security, whereas SNMPv3 uses authentication and encryption technologies to enhance security. The following uses SNMPv2c configuration as an example: [HUAWEI] snmp-agent //Enable SNMP. [HUAWEI] snmp-agent sys-info version v2c //Set the SNMP version to SNMPv2c. [HUAWEI] snmp-agent community write adminnms01 //Set the SNMP write community name. For common SNMP configuration information, see "Common SNMP Operations" in S1720&S2700&S3700&S5700&S6700&S7700&S9700 Series Switches Common Operation Guide. For typical SNMP configuration examples, see "Typical SNMP Configuration" in "Typical Network Management and Monitoring Configuration" of S1720&S2700&S3700&S5700&S6700&S7700&S9700 Typical Configuration Examples. Common configuration and typical configuration examples for S9300 and S12700 series switches are the same as those for Sx700 series switches. The Sx700 series switches are used as an example here.

Number of client-side ports on the TTX board
There are 10 physical ports on the client side of the TTX board and the port with the maximum number is RX10/TX10. On the NMS, numbers 1 and 2 have been assigned to IN/OUT ports on line boards. Ports on tributary boards are numbered from 3. TTX is a tributary board and therefore its ports are numbered from 3. In other words, logical port 3 on the NMS corresponds to the RX1/TX1 port.
