SmartMigration is a key service migration technology that migrates services from the source LUN to the target LUN without interrupting host services and enables the target LUN to take over services from the source LUN. After the service migration is complete, all service-related data has been replicated from the source LUN to the target LUN. Now, SmartMigration supports service migration not only within a storage system but also between a Huawei storage system and a compatible heterogeneous storage system.
A snapshot is a point-in-time copy of source data. A snapshot serves as a data backup and is accessible to hosts. The snapshot features instant generation and small space occupation.
SmartDedupe is a data reduction technology. It eliminates redundant data from a storage system and reduces the required storage capacity for storing data, thereby addressing the increasing demand for storage capacity. The Dorado storage system supports inline deduplication, that is, only newly written data is deduplicated.
Remote replication is the core technology used for remote data synchronization and disaster recovery.
The remote replication feature has two modes:
Synchronous remote replication: In this mode, data is synchronized in real time to achieve full protection for data consistency and to minimize data loss in the event of a disaster.
Asynchronous remote replication: Data is synchronized periodically to minimize the adverse impact on service performance caused by the long latency of long-distance data transfer.
