MM910 introduction
The MM910 is the management module in an E9000 chassis, and it manages all the hardware devices in an E9000 chassis. An E9000 chassis has two MM910s working in active/standby mode. The MM910s support active/standby switchovers, hot swapping, and protocols including IPMI 2.0, SNMP v3, SNMP trap v1, SNMP trap v2c, SNMP trap v3, SSL, SSH, and SFTP. The MM910 functions are described as follows: Management functions: ? Monitors the components in the chassis. ? Receives alarms generated from each component and reports them to the upper-layer network management system (NMS). ? Supports remote startup, shutdown, reset, and power-on and power-off operations for compute nodes and storage nodes. ? Records and queries logs. ? Manages users, including the MM910 users and baseboard management controller (BMC) users of compute nodes. KVM over IP: The KVM over IP function allows users to remotely monitor and control servers using a local keyboard, video, and mouse (KVM) on the client. Virtual media: Virtual media is used with the KVM over IP function of the MM910. After logging in to a compute node using KVM over IP, you can use the virtual media function to mount the DVD-ROM drive of a PC to the OS of the compute node or mount an ISO file on a PC to the OS of the compute node through a virtual DVD-ROM drive. Local KVM: By using the local KVM function of the MM910, you can log in to the CLI of the MM910 or OS of a compute node, mount the DVD-ROM drive to the compute node, and connect the compute node and switch modules through SOL. The local KVM function of the MM910 has the following limitations: ? The CLI does not provide the text editor function. ? You can log in to the system serial port of a compute node through SOL of the local KVM. SOL: The serial over LAN (SOL) indicates a serial data transmission channel that is set up between a remote client and the serial port of a compute node, storage node, switch module, or pass-through module by the MM910. Maintenance engineers can operate the node or module remotely on the client and perform remote maintenance and management. Unified upgrade: The MM910 provides the function of upgrading itself and components in the chassis. Configuration restoration: After a switch module is replaced, the MM910 can be used to rapidly apply the configuration of the new switch module. During the startup of the new switch module, the new switch module downloads the configuration file of the original switch module from the MM910 and loads the configuration data. If the MM910 does not have the configuration file of the original switch module, the new switch module loads the default configuration file. Offline configuration: The MM910 provides offline configuration to shorten data configuration time on site. The switch module configuration file can be prepared in advance and saved to the MM910. During the startup, the switch module automatically downloads the configuration file from the MM910 and loads the configuration data. Power capping for each node and the entire chassis: The maximum power can be set for the entire chassis and each node on the MM910 management interface, enabling the nodes and server to operate below the specified limits.
