The E9000 chassis provides four (two pairs of) slots for switch modules that support Ethernet, FC, FCoE, and IB protocols and provide pass-through I/O ports. The slots are numbered as 1E, 2X, 3X, and 4E.
The E9000 supports the CX11x, CX31x, and CX91x series switch modules. For details about the switch modules, enter a specific switch module model, for example, CX911.

When connecting the CX311 or CX911 switch modules of E9000 servers with FC switches through FC ports, you must change the working mode of the switch modules. The CX311 FCoE gateway and CX911 FC switching plane provide two working modes: Full Fabric (default mode) and Transparent (TR). You must set the working mode based on the connected devices.
