Configuring Smart Link of the CX111

2

Smart Link is a link backup feature. A Smart Link group consists of two interfaces. One interface is the backup of the other. Smart Link is often used in dual-homing networking to implement link backup and rapid switchover. Smart Link has following advantages:
? Prevents broadcast storms caused by loops. When two links are running properly in dual-homing networking, only one link transmits traffic and the other link is blocked.
? Is easy to configure and use.
? Ensures data forwarding. When the active link is faulty, traffic is switched to the standby link in milliseconds.

Configure Smart Link of the CX111 by following the instructions provided in the corresponding configuration guide:

Other related questions:
Can the loop detection and smart link functions be used together on an S series switches
You are not advised to configure both the loop detection and smart link functions on S series (except the S1700) or E series switches.

How does the switch process received Flush packets of smart link
After receiving Flush packets of Smart Link, the switch checks the password in the Flush packets. If the control VLAN and password in the Flush packets are the same as those configured on the interface, the switch deletes MAC address entries. If the control VLAN and password in the Flush packets are different from those configured on the interface, the switch discards the Flush packets. Different versions delete MAC address entries differently: --V100R002 and V100R003: delete global MAC address entries. --V100R005, V100R006, V200R001, and V200R002: delete only MAC address entries on the interface with the smart-link flush receive command configured. --V200R003 and later versions: delete only MAC address entries on the interface where the smart-link flush receive command is configured and the control VLAN specified in the command is the same as the control VLAN in the Flush packets.
