The CH221 supports two 2.5-inch HHDs or SSDs and allows mixed configuration of an HDD and an SSD. The hard disk backplane provides two SAS/SATA ports for connecting to hard disks. Each hard disk is hot-swappable and can be independently installed and removed.

Hard disk capacity expansion for the USG6000 series
The USG6650/6660/6670/6680 supports dual hard disks. Do as follows to install a hard disk on the USG, which has been running for some time with a single hard disk: 1. Ensure that all configurations are saved. 2. Run the disk offline command in the system view. Wait for about 30 seconds until the system indicates that the hard disk stops working, remove the filler panel from the hard disk slot, and install a new hard disk unit. a. Remove the filler panel from the hard disk slot. HDD1 is used as an example. b. Hold the handlers of the tray and push the tray along the guide rails inside the hard disk slot till the tray panel aligns with the panel of the device. c. Press the tray handler inwardly to restore the tray. d. In the system view, run the reset raid primary-disk disk-id command to create a RAID group using disk-id as the primary disk for data synchronization. In this example, the command shall be reset raid primary-disk 0. Several hours later, run the display disk information command. If Filesystem Status is Mounted and DiskRaidMode is ACTIVE, both hard disks work properly. Note: After the RAID is created, the data in the active disk will be synchronized to the backup disk and the original data on the backup disk will be overwritten. Select the disk-id of the active disk before creating RAID.

Full disk scanning for hard disks of the USG6000 series
Disks may be bumped during delivery, which may cause disk failures. Before usage, you can perform full disk scanning to repair the disks. Full disk scanning takes 2 to 3 hours. Note: Hard disk self-check interrupts hard disk services. Exercise caution when you perform full disk scanning. 1. Install the hard disk to the device. 2. In the system view, run the disk offline command to enable the hard disk to go offline. 3. In the diagnose view, run the disk self-test enable command to perform full disk scanning. 4. In the diagnose view, run the display disk self-test command to view the result of disk self-check. Progress: displays the progress. For example, in 2/46, 46 indicates that the operation may take 46 minutes, and 2 indicates that 2 minutes have elapsed. The actual time taken shall no longer than 46 minutes. Otherwise, the disk is faulty. ErrorType: Selftest complete without error: indicates that the hard disk is not faulty. Send command failed!: indicates that you shall run the self-check command again. Other: indicates that the hard disk is faulty, and you need to replace it or contact professionals for analysis. DiskSN: indicates the SN of the current hard disk. The self-check result corresponds to the SN.
