Hi

I am very new and inexperienced in this area.

I have a Huawei HG659 router connected to the internet and operating my home network. I have just setup  picoreplayer on my network and I am trying to mount a USB drive I have connected to the router to the player network. The software requires information about the IP address of the drive but I cannot find this information within the GUI of the router. (I am logged in with admin rights and I can see the device but cannot find the IP address)

As an aside I can connect this drive to my home network using windows.

Thanks in advance.

Hello, friend!

First, the HG659 has reached EOS in 2019.

And then according to your description:

You can access the USB driver of the HG659 through FTP on the Windows operating system, which is within the promised service scope.

Regarding RPi, I have confirmed to the device developers that we do not support mount points.

Thanks!

Hi friend!

Maybe you can try the following. I found the default IP address for the USB device server is '192.168. 100.100' and the default subnet mask is '255.255. 255.0'.

The following describes how to access the FTP server through the username and password.

Step 1. Connect the portable storage device to the HG659's USB port.

Step 2. Enable the FTP server.

  • Log in to the web page.

  • In the navigation tree, choose Sharing > Storage Sharing.

  • In Service Settings, set Enable FTP to enable.

  • Click Save to save the settings.

Step 3: Set the username and password of the portable storage device.

  • In User Settings, click Add USB storage user.

  • In Username and Password, enter a username and password for the FTP server and re-enter the password to confirm it.

  • In Directory mode, choose a file sharing path

  • In Privilege, select the desired right.

  • Click Save to save the settings.

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions.
When I tried the IP address //192.168.100.100 I get the error message.
" mount: /mnt/gdryan : special device //192.168.100.100/gdryan does not exist"
I am not sure if the IP address or the mount point are incorrect.
Any further ideas?

Hello, friend!

Because you access the USB drive on the HG659 through FTP, the IP address of the drive should be ftp://192.168.1.1.

I read it: https://docs.picoreplayer.org/how-to/add_usb_hdd/

Check whether the device and format are compatible before adding the device.

Thanks!

I enabled ftp and checked the file path for the USB and it is
ftp://mediarouter.home/Western_Digital-10583432_usb1_1/My Music/
I have added a usb drive to my RPi but I also want to add another USB HDD connected to the HG659. This is where I have problems. I also do not understand what the share name is for the USB HDD. The format for the file path is also incompatible with the LMS format.

If the device format is not compatible, it is recommended that you connect to the usb directly through the piccoreplayer without passing through the ONT device. If the USB port of the ONT is connected to the Piccoreplayer, it becomes complicated.
What are your thoughts on what I should use as the Mount Point, IP Address, Share Name, Share Type
as required to connect using the LMS

Hello, friend!

In fact, after I read the post, I don't understand the problem.

Now the USB port of the HG659 is connected to a Raspberry Pi. You add another USB drive to the Raspberry Pi. Your question is, do you want to add another USB drive to the HG659?

Maybe the problem isn't what I described, but I need to note that as you can see, the HG659 only has one USB port, so it doesn't do that.
But you can connect the Raspberry Pi through the network port and then connect the drive to the HG659, but that may be a little off from what you want.

First Thank you for all your comments so far.

Let me clarify the problem.

I have a USB connected to the RPi. I also have another network USB HDD connected to my HG659.

I want to access the files on the USB HDD from the RPi. I can see the USB HDD from my PC and can access it from there but I want to be able to use the network HDD for storing music so I don't have to have files in two locations.

I am using PiCorePlayer and LMS/Squeezelite for my music player. To mount the USB HDD using LMS I have to have very specific information. The details I need are 1. Mount Point, 2: IP Address, 3:Share Name, 3: Share Type. Number 1 & 2 are the problem areas.

Any ideas

Hi, friend!
Are you connecting the HG659 to the RPi using a network cable? I only know about ONTs (HG659), so I don't quite understand what you mean by Mount Point. For IP addresses, as I've said above, you can refer to them by looking at the link I've replied to.
Then, what value do you want?
