Problem Description
During commissioning of their PV solar system components consisting of a combination of Sun2000 50KTL and Sun2000 60 KTL inverters, the installer’s engineers were facing issues with configuring their devices specifically in connecting the smart logger to the Fusion Solar Smart PV Management System.
Problem analysis and root causes
Step1: ensuring all communication wiring is properly connected without any faulty or wrong links in the network cable and/or the connection to COM ports. The installer checked all connections and made sure that all cables are properly connected and terminated as per the user manual recommendation.
Step2: ensure that the communication settings are properly set up and are inline with the communication method to be used, in this case (wired connection)
While guiding the installer on how to commission the inverters and setup up the communication parameters it was noticed that the problem was related to settings.
As shown in the image below the Smartlogger 3000 wasn’t communicating with the on-site router and therefore couldn’t connect to the PV Management System.

Solution
The Installer was advised to:
Enable “automatically obtain IP address” in case the smartLogger
· Set the gateway address to the IP address of the router.
· Ensure that the IP address of the SmartLogger is in the same network segment as the gateway address.
· Set the domain name server (DNS) address to the IP address of the router or obtain the DNS address from the network provider.
After following the above steps there was a successful connection between the smart logger and the router. However, still no successful connection was established with the NMS as shown below:

And this is due to selecting the wrong domain name based on the area of operation.
The Installer was advised to change the domain name from intl.fusionsolar.huwei.com to sg5.fusionsolar.huawei.com based on his region. After performing all changes as instructed the SmartLogger was successfully connected to the NMS and the end user was able to monitor his solar system performance through the Fusion Solar Smart PV Management System as shown below:
