Confused about placement of WSMD4 Board in Directionless and Colored ROADM

Hello Colleagues!


I'm a little confused about placement of f WSMD4 Board in Directionless and Colored ROADM as attached in picture.

Q1) Why is WSMD4 board necessary? Why can't we attach WSMD9XF board with EX40 directly?

Q2) In what circusmstances is colorled directionless ROADM used over colorless directionless ROADM?

According to your problem description, WSMD4 and EX40 can implement the same functions. The difference between them is that one is a dynamic board and the other is a static board.The WSMD4 board is used because dynamic flexible scheduling is required in this scenario.
