Configuring Boards

Configure boards in the web management system according to the actual hardware configuration of the U1900 series unified gateways. The configured data will support subsequent configuration such as user number allocation and trunk configuration.

Context

Table 1 lists the boards supported by the U1900 series unified gateways.

SCU

U1911, U1960, and U1981

The SCU board functions as a softswitch. It processes media control protocols and provides Layer 2 and time division multiplexing (TDM) switch functions. The SCU board supports single-network-port, dual-network-port, and triple-network-port working modes.

MTU

U1911, U1960, and U1981

The MTU board provides digital trunk access, allowing the unified gateway to connect to the upper-level office through digital trunks. It also provides digit collection, announcement, ringback tone playing, recording, conferencing, TDM-to-VoIP conversion, and T.30-to-T.38 faxing functions.

SMCU

U1980

The SMCU board functions as a softswitch. It processes media control protocols and provides Layer 3 and TDM switch functions. The SMCU board supports single-network-port, dual-network-port, and triple-network-port working modes.

MRS

U1980

The SC1-MRS board provides number allocation, digit collection, announcement, ringback tone playing, recording, conferencing, TDM-to-VoIP conversion, and T.30-to-T.38 faxing functions, and supports G.711, G.729, and iLBC voice codecs. It also provides 256 channels for processing media resources. The MRS board is a mandatory one.

DTU

U1980

The DTU board provides digital trunk access, allowing the unified gateway to connect to the upper-level office through digital trunks.

ASI

U1911, U1960, and U1981

The ASI board provides POTS access. Each board can connect to a maximum of 32 POTS phones.

OSU

U1911, U1960, and U1981

The OSU board provides the access service for analog terminals and analog trunks. Each board can connect to a maximum of 12 analog terminals and 12 analog trunks.

BTU

U1911, U1960, and U1981

The BTU board provides digital trunk access. Each board provides four BRI S/T trunks ports, each of which supports two voice channels.

Procedure

  1. Use an administrator account to log in to the web management system of a U1900 series unified gateway.
  2. Choose System > Board Configuration.
  3. Click Refresh to refresh the Board Configuration page.

    Before configuring boards, click Refresh to ensure that the information displayed on the Board Configuration page is the same as the actual board configuration.

  4. Click the Slot x icon. According to the value of Actual board on the device displayed in the lower left corner, select the corresponding board from the drop-down list box.

     
    If the board type selected is MTU, the MTU Parameter Configuration dialog box is displayed. In the dialog box, set Number of VMS Channels and Conference board and save the data. Number of VMS Channels specifies the number of concurrent messages in the voice mailbox service. The specifications in the purchased license prevail.

  5. Click Data Save in the upper right corner of the web management system.
