Configuring the PXE function of NIC

Hello all,

This post describes how to configure the pre-boot execution environment (PXE) function of a network interface card (NIC). The Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) function allows a server to boot over a network.

Scenarios

Configure the PXE boot function of a NIC to enable the server to boot over a network. This section uses SP570 as an example. The window may vary according to network adapters.


Prerequisites

Conditions: You have accessed basic input/output system (BIOS). For details, see Accessing the BIOS.

Data: This operation requires no data preparation.


Procedure

  • Configuring the PXE for an LAN on motherboard (LOM)

1. Press ← or → to switch to the Advanced tab.

2. Select PXE Configuration and press Enter.

3. Configure the PXE for NICs.

Select the network port such as PXE1 Configuration, and press Enter.

In the dialog box that is displayed, select Enable and press Enter.

4. Select PXE Boot Capability.

UEFI: IPv4

UEFI: IPv6

UEFI: IPv4/IPv6

5. Press F10.

The system displays "Save configuration changes and reset and exit?".

6. Select Yes and press Enter to save the setting.


  • Configuring the PXE for a NIC connected to the server

1. Select Advanced and press Enter.


The Advanced screen is displayed.

2. Select Network Device List and press Enter.

3. Select the network port (such as MAC:48:F8:DB:D9:6E:73) of the external NIC and press Enter.

4. Select Huawei Network Adapter Configuration Wizard and press Enter.

The Main Configuration Page screen is displayed.

5. Set the parameters as required.

6. Press F10.

The system displays "Save configuration changes and reset and exit?".

7. Select Yes and press Enter to save the setting.
