Configuring the iSCSI Network

Background

Configure iSCSIA and iSCSIB on VP1 and VP2. This topic takes the procedure for configuring iSCSIA on VP1 as an example.

Procedure

  1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
  2. Select a network port and name it iSCSIA. The network port is used to connect to the disk chassis.

    Ensure that the IP address of network port iSCSIA and the iSCSIA address are on the same network segment. Do not configure a gateway for network port iSCSIA.

  3. Right-click iSCSIA and choose Properties from the shortcut menu. The iSCSIA Properties window is displayed.
  4. Click the Networking tab and deselect Internet Protocol Version6 (TCP/IPv6).
  5. Double-click Internet Protocol Version4 (TCP/IPv4). The Internet Protocol Version4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window is displayed.
  6. Click the General tab and set the parameters.

    1. Based on the iSCSI plan in Network Plan, set the IP address and subnet mask, as shown in Figure 2.

      Set the IP address to 192.168.11.1.

      Set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0.

    2. Click Advanced. The Advanced TCP/IP Settings window is displayed.
    3. Click the DNS tab. Deselect Append parent suffixes of the primary DNS suffix and Register this connection's addresses in DNS, as shown in Figure 3.

    4. Click the WINS tab. Deselect Enable LMHOSTS lookup and click the Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP option button under NetBIOS setting, as shown in Figure 4.

    5. Click OK to return to the Internet Protocol Version4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties window.

  7. Click OK to return to the iSCSIA Properties window.
  8. Click OK.
