Configure port mirroring in EG8141A5

Hello,


Can someone help me with port mirroring on Huawei GPON EG8141A5? I am unable to access the terminal via SSH or telnet, the local operator is not cooperative and does not understand port mirroring. I do not have a precise model or build number for the device, the operator has put their stickers everywhere. I can't configure VLANs from WebUI for some reason or even select the ports there.

Hello, friend!


To configure a VLAN, ensure that you have logged in to the ONT web interface using the administrator account and password.


Click the Advanced Configuration tab. In the navigation pane, choose WAN Configuration. In the right pane, click Create. 


Set VLAN parameters in WAN Configuration.
Note: The VLAN configuration must be the same as that on the OLT.


To configure port forwarding, you need to know the port number of the ONT on the OLT and the port number to be forwarded. 

For the ONT port number, contact the device provider and ISP.

Hi,

Thanks for a quick reply, there are two users 'Epadmin' & 'Epuser', I logged in with both but I can not select any options there. I think the configuration is immutable. When I run nmap on ONT I see SSH port open but I can not ssh into the system.

I need "port mirroring", not forwarding so that I can screen entire vlan with wireshark. Secondly, not providing user documentation for ONT administration is not okay. At least, offer easy downloads, All the support documentation links are locked on your enterprise portal.

By setting "Advanced Options --> Security --> Firewall Level" to "Disabled" (Please note the security risk here), I was able to connect to SSH and Telnet ports. However, I haven't been able to find the credentials for SSH login.

Complete guide to port mirroring in EG8141A5.


  1. login as admin to the web portal at http://192.168.18.1/ using credentials: Epadmin:Epuser

  2. Set "Advanced Options --> Security --> Firwall Level" to "disabled"

  3. Login via SSH at ssh@192.168.18.1 using credentials Eproot:adminEp

  4. Upgrade your prompt to privileged prompt using command su

  5. Use the command 
    set portmirror sourceport 9 destport 1 mirrordata 2 enable 1
    to mirror your traffic to port 1

  6. Connect your laptop to Lan1

  7. Use wireshark to capture packets. 

  8. To stop the portmirror, use the command
    set portmirror sourceport 9 destport 1 mirrordata 2 enable 0
