SNMP has three versions: v1, v2c and v3. v1 and v2c support community name, whereas v3 does not support. A lack of authentication capabilities in v1 and v2c results in vulnerability to security threats, so v3 is recommended. When the community name is configured, ACL can be used to restrict the access of NMS to the device.
