Dear Community members!
This post brings you Knowledge about fiber types.
According to the usage scenarios of optical fibers, the following types of optical fibers are used:
1. Indoor pigtail
It is mainly used for optical cable termination, between ODF and ODF, between ODF and optical communication equipment, and between optical equipment and optical equipment. The distance is usually within 50 meters.

2. Indoor soft optical cable
Usually used in the same building, between the same floor or different floors, usually between 50 m and 500 m.

3. Drop fiber
It consists of only one or two core wires and protected steel wires. It is usually used in the access network and is connected to the optical network terminal. The length is within 1 km.

4. Outdoor common optical cable
The ADSS optical cable is typically composed of 6 to 48 cores and is widely used. The length depends on the output optical power and receives threshold of the optical communication equipment.

5. Outdoor enhanced optical cable
The OPGW optical cable is typically composed of 12 to 48 cores. The length depends on the output optical power and receive threshold of the optical communication equipment. It is used in special scenarios such as electric power and rail transportation.

6. Submarine optical cables
Laid on the seabed to establish telecommunication transmission between countries. Usually composed of hundreds of cores, the length can reach thousands of kilometers.
