Hi friends,

Can anyone explain to me what the main difference between commissioning and configuration is? What do we mean when we say that we are commissioning / configuring a router?

Thanks!

Hi there!

In my opinion, commissioning is a process like 'debuging' in programing. During this process we may be facing unkown network problems and we should do some testing or debuging on the router to troubleshoot the network failure until figuring all the faults out. This whole process is the commissioning.

Unlike commissioning, configuring is just a sample action in which we configure the command in the command line interface or web GUI.

Commissioning a system is the setting up, configuring and testing of a complete personal computer (PC) for a client.
Configuration is the arrangement - or the process of making the arrangement - of the parts that make up a whole.
