We're currently trying to implement a Skyfii captive portal service and, as part of the captive portal action URL, the AP's MAC, BSSID the user is connecting on and the SSID will be sent to Skyfii's platform to ensure the user is authenticated via a trusted device.

I have been having trouble discerning the base MAC of the access points we are testing in our lab. I have tried both "display ap all" and "display vap all", but I could not find what I was looking for. To be clear, I am not looking for the access point's interface MAC address. I am looking for the management interface's MAC address.

Actually, you can get the MAC address indirectly from the SSID MAC address.
The formula is as below:
SSID MAC = basic MAC of the AP + WLAN ID - 1
This is for 2.4G signal.

For example, if you get a SSID MAC 9C50-ee7b-9400, and WLAN ID is 6, then the AP basic MAC is 9C50-ee7b-93eb.

I will have to verify this in the lab, will update as soon as I test.

Wouldn't this command give you the MAC address of the AP's ethernet interface?
you can use following 2 commands to get the required information:

1. display mac-address

2. display current config | include mac-address

Would I enter this command on the AP or on the AC?

The first one is for AP and second one is for WLC

hi @kiewit

1.1-) If you need device mac it's written under device (can be  used for portal server or dot1x server auth)
1.2-) or you can run display mac-address ap-id x / ap-name y/ap all

2-) if you want to see APs BSSID Mac Informations you can run below command

<AC6605> display vap all

WID : WLAN ID
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
AP ID AP name        RfID WID  BSSID          Status  Auth type  STA   SSID
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
3     ap1            0    1    2098-0024-0080 ON      Open       0     ag
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total: 1

Please let me know if you need more information or details ?

Have a nice day

@Kiewit hello,
you mean the MAC address of the device which the STAs connect to?
From your description, it seems that you want to verify the STA and the AP which STA connected to, to make sure that STA connects to the correct APs, right?

Exactly; I am looking for the MAC address of the AP the STA is connecting to, so we are sure the authentication request sent to the RADIUS server in the cloud is coming from an AP we whitelisted.
