Cloud Application Engine (CAE) is the Platform as a Service (PaaS) of Huawei cloud. It provides developers and partners with a cloud app platform integrating development, deployment, hosting, and operation and maintenance (O&M), helps users start business innovation with low costs anytime anywhere, and shortens the time to market (TTM) of apps.
PaaS
The concept of PaaS sources from the three-layer architecture (the other two layers are IaaS and SaaS) of the cloud computing service model defined by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). It refers to a cloud service that deploys users' own apps or apps created by users based on programming languages, libraries, services, and tools provided by the platform to the cloud infrastructure. PaaS shields users from tedious management and control over the underlying cloud infrastructure (including networks, servers, operating systems, storage, and others) so that users can easily manage deployed apps and configure the app hosting environment.
For the cloud computing definition by NIST, see http://csrc.nist.gov/publications/nistpubs/800-145/SP800-145.pdf.
From the aspect of user scenarios, Huawei cloud Cloud Application Engine (CAE) complies with the cloud computing industry's definition of PaaS. That is, PaaS is a cloud app development, deployment, and O&M platform oriented to app developers.
