Compared with snapshots, cloning is a complete binary copy of the primary LUN at a certain point in time, instead of writing the changed data to the reserved space of the storage device through the copy-on-write technology, and the data location is located by the mapping table. Because of this difference, there are two main benefits of using cloning: data protection and performance improvement.
After using the business of the clone feature, the I/O performance of the storage system will be affected, which is mainly manifested in the decrease of parallel write bandwidth.
Does the performance increase? What's the answer? How can the performance be improved? Is there a great god to say briefly?
Later, it was said that the writing bandwidth decreased, which made me even more confused!
