Hi,
I need to know that is it mandatory to configure Stack of 2 × CE16800 with same hardware configurations, before configuration of MLAG on CE16800 switches?

Hi MAWK,
Before configuring M-LAG, you do not need to configure a stack for the two switches. M-LAG virtualizes two devices into one logical device.
I hope it helps!

Hello,

Configuring a Stack (CE12800, CE12800E, and CE16800)

Applicable Products and Versions

V100R001C00 and later versions

CE16800, CE12800 and CE12800E series switches (excluding the CE12800E configured with FD-X series cards)

For details about the mapping between software versions and switch models, see the Hardware Query Tool.

Networking Requirements

An enterprise builds a data center. The data center network must provide high reliability on the core layer and have a simple structure to facilitate configuration and management.

To meet requirements of the enterprise, core switches SwitchA and SwitchB set up a stack. Figure 2-16 shows the network topology.

Configuration Roadmap

The configuration roadmap is as follows:

  1. Make a stack plan.

  2. Connect SwitchA and SwitchB using stack cables based on the stack plan.

  3. Configure stack software on SwitchA and SwitchB, including the stack member ID, stack priority, stack domain ID, stack connection mode, and stack port.

  4. Save the configurations of SwitchA and SwitchB and enable the stacking function on the two switches.

  5. Check whether a stack has been set up successfully.

Dear @ BAZ
Thanks for the info. But my question is that "is it mandatory" to setup a stack first? Before setting up MLAG? OR we can setup MLAG without stacking?

Waiting for your expert opinion.
Regards.
