Cant Create a Node OSN1800-I Working as PTN
Hi ,
Today I want to share with you a case, about a problem happened while creating one NE OSN1800-I, working as PTN in our network.
Description
We build our network in Huawei OSN P-OTN series, we use OSN1800-V or OSN1800-II as aggregation NEs and OSN 1800-I as access NE.
- After connecting the fiber of the GE port and powering on the new access OSN1800-I NE , we check the DCN in the connected ports in the aggregation NE to make sure that the DCN and the OSPF are Enabled From NE Explorer > Communication > DCN Management > Port settings.
- After that we proceed to NE Explorer > Communication > Core Routing Table to check the new NE ID in the Routing Distance (0), But this time the Core Routing showed the new NE ID (116-49254) only for some seconds then the ID (9-1XXX) ,When try to create the NE with the ID (116-49254) the upload fails.

The new NE with the ID ID (9-1XXX)

The new NE with the ID (116-49254)
The problem cause
We started with checking the ID (9-1xxx) with the IDs already exist in our network and found it used by an existing NE , this NE logged out of the management after connecting the new NE, After that we checked the IP 129.9.xxx.xxx which appeared in the core routing table for the new NE and found it belongs to the same NE, That means there is a conflict in the IP address between the new NE and the existing NE.

Solution
-We changed the IP address of the conflicted NE to be able to create the new site, then the new NE appeared constantly in the CORE Routing with the ID (116-49254), we could create the NE and worked normally.
Conclusion
- The NEs come by default with random different ID & IP but in rare cases this ID or IP become the same in some NEs, so it is highly recommended to change the IP of the NEs after creating, for the security and planning purposes.
Welcome to feedback
