Cannot send emails from Mozilla Thunderbird through HG8245T router.

Good morning , 

I am using Mozilla Thunderbird for my emails at work and due to covid i have been assigned to work from home.

Now i can no longer receive and send emails . i have the  Huawei HG8245T router at home. My internet is ok , its only processing emails though the email client is that i am having issues.


Do i need to do some configurations on the router to allow me to use thunderbird? 

my email address is associated with my company website domain.

Normally, the ONT won't block you from sending and receiving emails. Because e-mail is an application of the Internet. The ONT only provides a channel for you to access the Internet.

In addition, check whether your device has parental controls:

Also a friend had same issues , the IT guy at the office just remote login using teamviewer and then change  some settings in the router and then everything works. we both have the same router at home.
no parental controls.

do i need to change some settings in the picture below for the mail server to be able to forward emails:

1. Please check whether your company's mail server system is intranet or extranet. For home network, whether VPN service is needed.
2. Please contact the IT staff of your company and ask them what settings they have made. You can make some reference. It is not excluded that the port mapping function is used.
3. Your device belongs to ISP customized device. Some functions may have been disabled. Please contact ISP for confirmation.

The mail server is hosted on the website itself . No vpn is used and at the moment , IT support is not available.

the Outgoing Server [ smtp] settings are configured as below in Mozilla Thunderbird:

xxx.domainname.com
port :465
Connection Security : SSL/TLS

When i try to send an email, i get the following error message:

connection server time out or outgoing server time out.

What do you think ?

Hello.
Can you find the IP address of this mail server, and then conduct Ping test on the CMD. If you can ping, please check the configuration of your local application. If you can't Ping, you may use VPN service to solve the problem.

okay i will like to add some more info :

The company's website is unreacheable within the company but can be accessed elsewhere.

Thunderbird works at the office but when i bring the laptop at home it no longer works and vice versa.
When the IT officer fixes the email at home and then when i bring back the laptop to the office it no longer works.

Please try configuring port mapping to see if the problem can be solved. If not, I think you need to enable the VPN service on your computer.
