HiCoins as reward: 0 (problem unresolved)

Hi

I am fresh user for Huawei AP. I setup 1st wifi(10.0.0.0) for internal use and DHCP by router and 2nd wifi(192.168.0.0) for guest and DHCP by AP at FAT AP.

There is no problem on FAT AP and FIT AP on 1st wifi. But on 2nd wifi DHCP only work on FAT AP. When I connect 2nd wifi via fit AP. It cannot get IP from wifi !

* Remark: In fit AP, I have not do anything. Once the fit AP connect to network. It automatical find FAT AP and make zero work. Does it normal?

Hello,
As you described, the FIT AP broadcasts the SSID for internal use, and the DHCP server is configured on the router, the FAT AP broadcasts the SSID for the guests. But you can connect to the guests' SSID from the FIT AP.
From my understanding, your router is configured as the AC to manage the FIT AP, and your FIT AP and FAT AP connect to the same PoE switch or router. I don't think this is normal.

You are recommended to switch your FAT AP to FIT mode, and configure the router to manage both FIT AP to broadcast the SSIDs for internal use and guests.

Your Diag is correct show my setting. My router is "Fortigate 60E", switch is "Huawei S5735", AP is "Huawei 5761". So I cannot join the AP to router. Any sugestion for my hardware config and set a internal and guest wifi. Thanks

Hi, Henry_Chinson!
Can you tell me what the problem is? The PC cannot connect to the AP, or cannot access the Internet after the PC is connected to the AP?

The PC connect SSID1 (10.0.0.x) via all ap no problem. PC connect SSID2 (192.168.0.x) via LeaderAP no problem. But PC connect SSID2 via AP2 cannot get IP (it wait a long time and get IP become 169.254.x.x, not 192.168.0.x)?

Hi!
The IP address 169.254.x.x indicates the IP address automatically generated by the PC because the PC does not obtain the IP address. You are advised to check the VLAN configuration of the address pool or interface to determine why the IP address is not delivered to the PC.

Hi @Henry_Chinson
If your S switch doesn't support the WLAN function, you are recommended to configure one of your AP as the leader AP to manage another AP. In other words, one of your AP works as the AC+AP, and manages the FIT AP.
Here is the configuration guide Leader AP Configuration.

Yes, actually, in your situation, the router could be replaced by your Fortigate firewall.
