Can't Log into or Reset HG8145V5 Router

Hello all,


After hours and hours of troubleshooting and scourging the forum for help, I've had no luck accessing the web portal for my HG8145V5 router. I logged in successfully with root/admin user and password combo about a month ago, and today I tried logging in in order to disable wifi so I could use another router as an access point, but it said the user and password were wrong. 


I thought I might have changed the username/password a month ago and forgot about it (I doubt it but it is a possibility) so I tried many more combinations with absolutely no luck. I tried resetting the router to factory settings by pushing the reset button with a pin, but every time it restarts, none of the settings reset, it still has the SSID I changed it to, not the factory one? 


Why isn't it resetting to default settings? Is there any other way to reset it? What are my options? I'm at a complete and total loss and don't know what to do.

Hello, friend!


Would you like to press the reset button once or press and hold? 

If you press this button only once, the device restarts. 

You need to hold down the button for 10 seconds to reset the device.



If you cannot log in to the local PC, use any of the following methods: 


1. Press and hold this button for more than 10 seconds to restore the device to its factory settings. 


2. Log in to the ONT from the OLT through Telnet and run the command to restore the ONT to factory settings. 


3. Restore factory settings on the NMS.

Power on your router and wait until the startup process completes. Using a pin, press the RESET button on the router for approximately 10 seconds until the indicator lights go out. Once your router restarts and the indicator turns red, its factory settings are restored.
