​Can I directly create a service without configuring a VC4 server trail

Hello, everyone!

I want to ask a question about configuring 2M services. Can I not create VC4 server trails before configuring 2M services using the trail method? Because it takes time!

Hi ,
You cant create E1/VC12 services directly if you havent created VC4 server trail in advance , that
In case you use the trail to create service .

The only way to directly create E1/VC12 service without creating VC4 server trail is creating using manual service creation , in this way the U2000 creates automaticlly the VC4 server trail when you make service trail search , also this way is extreamly time consuming especially for big network .

Beside that , I think VC4 server trail creation doesnt take long time .

Even if VC-12 cross-connections are created station by station manually, sometimes the U2000 cannot search for trails. This is because the timeslot configuration is incorrect, especially when the service traverses many sites. So I really like the path configuration method.

the U2000 can always find the trail for VC-12 service , as long as the configuration is correct .

I want also to add that VC4 sever trail seizes capacity , so you can create VC12/VC3 inside it .it acts as a pipe or tunnel you can fill it with channels

Hello,

Please find below how to create server trails. Server trails must be created before VC-3 or VC-12 service trails are created.

Prerequisites

  • You must be an NM user with NE operator authority or higher.

  • Port attributes have been correctly configured for boards on related NEs.

  • SDH optical fiber connections have been created between NEs in the main topology.

  • Configuration data on the U2000 is the same as that on NEs.

Context

  • If a server trail to be created passes through intermediate NEs, create the server trail in end-to-end mode. In this case, higher order VC-4s pass through intermediate NEs.

  • If a server trail is created by creating trails between adjacent NEs, creating server trails does not affect data on the NE side or the NE layer on the U2000 side. It only makes a mark at the network layer on the U2000 side, which indicates that the VC-4 is used and cannot be used by other VC-4 trails.

Procedure

  1. Choose Service > SDH Trail > Create SDH Trail from the main menu.

  2. Set Level to VC4 Server Trail.

  3. Double-click the desired NE in the physical topology to configure the source and sink of the server trail.

Thank you for your answer. Do you mean that the VC4 server trail is only used to mark 2M services and does not consume the actual bandwidth on the line?

However, when a VC4 server trail is created between site A and site D (the trail traverses site B and site C), all VC4 resources are consumed on site B and site C.
